Our latest fine art jewel, Her Regard in 18 carat gold and foxglove pink tourmaline.

Adjust the style from choker to extra long, and every length in between, with our artfully innovative clasp.

Her Regard is inspired by my favourite novel, The Stress Of Her Regard by internationally acclaimed fantasy writer Tim Powers.

The story re-imagines the lives of our some of our most notable poets Shelly and Lord Byron.  Their incredible work influenced by an otherworldly being, part muse, part succubus - it is 'her regard' or her focused attention which is responsible for the exceptional quality of their art.

This is a necklace I want to wear myself, to express power and, dare I say it, ardour.  The swirls radiating from the gemstones evoke the idea of energy waves, thought patterns and emotions.

Each of the hand selected step cut foxglove pink tourmaline gemstones are tilted forty-five degrees, we see them as inverse pyramids, their power harnessed in the 18 carat gold settings.

The textured links are a delight to caress, even the clasp is sculpted from solid gold and can be completely removed from the necklace.  In this way it is possible to shorten the chain on both sides equally and allow the chain to dangle down the back of the neck symmetrically.

More rare than Ruby, Pink tourmaline is the rarest member of the tourmaline family.

First brought to Europe in quantity by the Dutch East India Company, the name tourmaline comes from the Sinhalese / Sri Lankan term “turmali,” which was the name given to all coloured crystals on the island of Sri Lanka at that time.

Pink tourmaline is also known as “rubellite,” which is the Latin word for red. At one point in time, there was a different name for each colour of tourmaline, but now they are all referred to as tourmaline, only with the colour’s name added as a prefix.

Tourmaline is a complex silicate that contains boron. It displays a greater range of colours than any other gemstone and comes in every colour of the spectrum. According to ancient Egyptian legend, the stone found its array of colours when it left the earth’s centre and passed through a rainbow.

Ancient ceremonies in India included the use of the gem as a tool to bring insight and help in the discovery of that which is good.

Tourmaline is a birthstone for October, it corresponds to the astrological sign of Libra and is said to inspire love, spirituality and creativity. It offers wisdom and can enhance willpower.

There are only five Her Regard necklaces, each one in a unique combination of materials. no more will be made.  The entire jewel is made in the United Kingdom, and presented in its own handcrafted presentation case.
